Also I'm looking for music from smaller bands working in this sort of style. Cold synth punk stuff - if anything comes to mind, feel free to add. Trying to find some music to score a short film so preferably bands that I can get in contact with to ask permission. NO BIG SHOTS.
Stuff you've come across like:
Lust for Youth
Zola Jesus
those side project Jay Reatard things - destruction unit etc
Digital Leather
Ashrae Fax
Stacian
the weirder & lesser known the better.

Oh hell yes, good call forgot to look into their back catalog - I wonder if Black Bug is still around.

That's perfect, I love that record. You just reminded me of that whole Australian scene, like Kitchens Floor or UV Race...which I'm pretty sure those guys are a part of Total Control. Good one.
